Optical Brightener FBA351 has very effective whitening and excellent light fastness properties. It provides brilliant whiteness for the cellulose fibres on all washing temperatures, even at low and medium temperatures. It is suitable for conventional, liquid detergent, industrial detergent, washing gels, fabric softeners. It is well soluble in cold water and resistant to the oxidizing agents like hypochlorite and peroxides, reducing agents, and the slightly acidic and highly alkaline environment (pH 5-12). Recommended dosing calculated on the detergent quantity 0,05 - 0,25% for washing powders, 0,05 - 0,40% for washing liquids, 0,02 - 0,05% for fabric softeners, 0,2 - 1,0% for industrial detergents. The whitening effect of the product is based on the fluorescence emission in the visible blue range of the absorbed UV light which eliminates the yellow tone that show the of the textile whiter (less yellow). The compound's absorption maximum: 349 nm, the absorbance value of 1% solution in 1143 ±38. The radiated light has a maximum intensity at 435 nm. The product solubility is 25 g/l at 25°C in distilled water, and about 300 g/l at 90°C. It is used in the paper industry also to increase the optical whiteness. It is also suitable to track karst water as a fluorescent tracer to other dyes like fluorescein sodium (uranin, C.I. Acid Yellow 73), Rodamine B (C.I. Basic Violet 10), Eosin (C.I. Acid Red 87) and Sulforodamine B (C.I. Acid Red 52), as each of these compounds have different characteristic fluorescence wavelengths.
